LGPE! (Large Group Performance Evaluation)

Large group performance evaluation (LGPE) is the equivalent to the Georgia Milestones for 7th and 8th grade orchestra, chorus and band students. It is required by the state and scored professionally by four separate judges.

Students are judged on appearance, behavior, all aspects of performance technique and sight-reading. In addition, the conductor is also scored on their conducting technique.

All students were given their info and permission forms last week. If they’ve misplaced them, please click below and print the permission form.

If a student does not turn in a permission form by FRIDAY’s double block rehearsal during class, they will not be permitted to attend this field trip. Please read the info sheet carefully for all the details and itinerary pertaining to your ensemble.

6th Grade Unit 2 Final

On Wednesday, Feb 13, students will begin taking their individual unit 2 playing assessment during class. Students will play alone, but in the locker room and not in front of the other students. They will play #126 from their book. To prepare for this, they do not have a Charms test this weekend.

For a test grade, they must demonstrate the following skills:

  1. Correct posture and bow hold
  2. Bow division (bow control)
  3. Playing with consistent tempo/rhythm without stopping
  4. Playing in tune
  5. Reading G string notes
  6. Playing slurred bowings
  7. Playing C and F natural

Students will then move on to Unit 3 of book one and continue to advance their technique.
